Can you imagine W quoting an Athenian lawmaker? Can you imagine Dick Cheney allowing openness in government he ran?

The previous administration was doomed to relive history rather than to learn from it. All of our best Presidents have had an intimate knowledge of the past and of the foibles of man in dealing with crisis. Bush-Cheney not only did not have the historical perspective to avoid getting bogged down in Iraq, they fired those who had it and dared to speak openly.
