I can confirm that this is true. He lives three doors up from my Aunt and Uncle and when I saw the FB rumors I called and it is very true. I Don't think you will much more other than he passed in the way that it happened. The only media source to confirm it is the Pitch. But some of the other news people had posted on their walls and WDAF took them straight down i.e. Eric Burke John Pepertone so yes it has been confirmed for sure

Well, thanks for that information.

I still see nothing over at the Pitch Magazine or their blog, Plog, saying anything about it.

i wont believe any other than an official report.

Crazy news! Another site says suicide with a bag of helium. Surely that's not true. He was so full of life!

It saddens me to believe that our beloved weather man is gone. I loved watching him on fox 4 news and knowning that he has passed leaveing behind a wonderful wife and child, plus his work family as well. I sit here and cry wondering why, how. My thoughts and prayer , healing wishes for his whole family and his fox 4 work family. He will be missed! We are here for his family in both home and at work. I'm sure they are waiting to notify family. Pitch shouldn't have it posted yet if that's the case. BTW, it's Don Harman, with an "a".

The morning newscast will never be the same.I always thought of it as entertainment first, news & weather second. There was an "on screen" magic between all the morning crew that will NEVER be the same. It was a fun thing to wake -up to in the morning. Always providing laughs along with the news. I am saddened very much, for the untold thousands that tuned in each day but more so for his family. May the Lord watch over them.

I am very sorry to hear of Don Harman's death. He seemed so jolly & full of life...if rumors are true, and it was suicide...it shows how we never truly know the deep dark feelings some of us hold inside.

Rest in Peace Don, you will be missed!

I always thought that he was very under appreciated and put down by his Fox 4 Morning News at 9 coworkers. Especially by Mark Alford

I am numb. Can not fully process that he is gone and find it hard to believe he would kill himself intentionally. No matter, he is honored and highly respected...that will not change.

Its hard to lose someone who could brighten your day. A year ago my ex- husband of 25 years just stopped talking to me and shot himself. It leaves you with all kinds of questions. My heart gos out to dons, wife and daughter. It is devastating, and takes along time to move on. Again to the family our hearts go out to you. Now he's making them laugh up stairs. God bless.

Now why would you say something like that in the wake of his coworkers' grief? For shame. Don, his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

I loved to wake up and turn the tv on, knowing Don would be giving me my forecast and a good laugh! My heart sank when I saw his face flash across the screen. No matter what stories the world may be trying to piece together, I thought he was a great human being. May God Bless his soul, and the hearts of his family & friends! (Including viewers)

I have been watching him on the morning show since 1999... I was a teenager at that point. I thought he was very jovial, very intelligent, and delivered the weather forecast very well. I think he was fighting some demons that were kept hidden from the public and possibly his wife. I am very shaken, upset, disturbed, and numb by this report. I honestly hope that he does well on the other side and he finds the happiness he couldn't find here on earth. It could have been a chemical imbalance, left untreated/undiagnosed... a realization of his life, he didn't like it and decided it was time to go... or he was fighting personal demons that consumed him.... Regardless, I am just... broken over this... This whole week has been utterly crazy for me. One of my cats passed away, a friend of mine's grandfather passed the same day Don passed... to say that I am overwhelmed is an understatement. Anyway... I am going to miss you, Don. :( ......... *sigh*

I am in utter shock. I can't believe it. I will so miss him in my morning routine. Its remarkable how someone I've never met can change my life. My heart goes out to his family and work family. Gosh, did they make my days !

Those creeps at fox he worked with made him destroy his old car, made him the fool of the show...then made him get up so dam* early, who wouldn't go crazy really with little sleep. If you been deprived of sleep for lengths of time you would know how that can drive one to the brinks. But at least now he can finally rest!

Don was such a part of mine and my 14 year old sons lives, getting us up and awake each morning. My son is in tears! We found out last night but was not sure how he died. Now that I know, how do I tell my son when he gets home from school today? It is so hard for the children and teens, who looked up to him to understand! He was and is so loved by many! Don will be greatly missed!

RIP Don. I will miss you and your funny broadcasts. God Bless your wife, daughter and family. Prayers and thoughts are with them. Please can someone answer this question: when they say Don suffered from depression, do they mean he was bipolar?

CharmingGirly said...

Well, I have some experience not only working with bipolar depression but with friends suffering with it. From what I saw of Don he felt responsible to make others happy and made that his work and he was very successful doing it! I won't be surprised to find out he was bipolar as he was so grandiose, highly intelligent and incredibly high on life. Unfortunately those fighting bipolar depression can go the total opposite of that on a dime. But, as others know too well, Bipolar is very difficult to treat and the medications have very hard side effects and when you're chemically imbalanced its like being stuck in the scariest & saddest nightmare and not able to wake up and get out. Its a horrible darkness and affects your realistic thoughts and ability to cope with normal life. Those that see no other way out just feel they have to get out the only way the know how. RIP Don. You are so loved and missed. Thank you for the laughs and great weather reporting! Thoughts and Prayers to his family and dear friends.

I am still having a hard time understanding this and still cant beleive he is gone. I keep waithing for Fox 4 to say it was a joke "not that its a funny one". I remember watching him the morning of his death and thinking something was not right with him. But I figured he had gotten in trouble for something he had done again and he was just trying to be serious or something. Man I wish someone would have done something to prevent this. My heart and prayers go out to all his family and friends and hope that his daughter knows just how much her daddy loved and cherished her. Don you are and always will be GREATLY MISSED

I have a very very reliable connection in the police department AND the coroners office. Don Harman found out six days before his suicide that his wife WAS having an affair just shortly before he went on the air that Thursday morning. Tuesday was like any other day for him starting out but later that evening when he got home he spent time with his daughter and then placed her in her bed at bedtime and his wife left for a short time. While she was gone he place a bag over his head and used helium piped into it to put himself out of his misery that his wife put him in. It was I'm sure easier given the fact that he had suffered from depression to be able to commit an act as such as that but I'm glad his wife has to live the rest of her life knowing she was the catalyst. One day she'll have to explain to her daughter that her father comitted suicide because mommy needed attention. God have mercy and bless Avery with all you have.

May I finish this by saying that if any of you,in any of the above post in any way, shape, or form, made up,lied about, dreamed up,make-believed,whatever, however you want to say it .any of the above comments about the weatherman named Don that the whole city loved. then I really hope that you get the balls to drive yourself to the closest mental facility to your home and have yourself committed for some kind of long-term treatment plan.....

The comments that blame others for Don's death and wish a life of suffering are simply sickening. Don was in some sort of misery. None of us, including those closest to him will ever know Don's parting thoughts. Suicide is tragic and the living live with it for their entire lives. Shame on you for placing blame and wishing for do much suffering. That does not honor Don or his legacy.
